Fast-Talking Friday

Hey guys!

How are you guys today?

I thought that it would be nice to do something different and dedicate a whole post to the movie Eclipse. :) There might (probably will) be some spoilers in here, so if you haven't watched the movie yet... AVERT YOUR EYES! haha.

Ok, I went with friends to see the movie. I have complete mixed feelings about it. Let me start off by saying that I'm a complete Taylor Lautner fan. Also, I haven't read any of the books.

I really liked Jacob in New Moon, but this movie kind of made him a little bit more cocky and arrogant. I mean, with the first kiss. He really went for it when it felt like it was the COMPLETE wrong time to do it. It was like "she loves me, she just won't admit it." Which I thought was really weird that he said it more than once. I was thinking, "Man! What if she doesn't love you back? You would look like a complete jerk!"

I had a problem with Edward just letting Bella kiss Jacob when Jacob had found out that they were engaged. This is basically my impression: "Edward! Do something! That's your fiance that Jacob is making out with right in front of you!" I loved the fact that when Bella admitted that she loved Jacob but loved Edward more, all he said was "I know." Fight for your woman, darn it! LOL.

Also, I kind of had an issue with the "Yeah, I'll marry you if you have sex with me." Bella just makes me mad. I mean, you're supposedly really in love with this guy. So in love that you would give away your humanity to be with him, but you won't marry him without a compromise? I mean, I really don't think that she deserves either one any way.. Or she can have Edward and I'll take Jacob (I mean, Taylor). Why string both of them along?

But, I loved the comedy that went into the movie. My friend and I were totally laughing. I think my favorite scene was the tent scene, just because of how well it was done.

I really missed seeing Taylor with his shirt off for 75% of the movie, but it was worth it when he first came out during the movie. My friend was like.. "Calm down." LOL. Males just don't get excited over a shirtless guy like females do. :)

Overall, I thought that the movie was decent. I wasn't really disappointed with the movie, but I heard a lot of the hardcore fans were. I'm excited to see the wedding play out in the next two movies. I don't really have a problem with the actors in the movie, although I don't really see the appeal to Robert. I don't really find him attractive at all. To each their own though. :)

So, what did you guys think of the movie? What were your favorite parts? Which parts do you think could have been better?

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

I am becoming, quiet the comment stalker of you! :)
This movie was definetly my favourite! :P
Like you said, there were actually funny bits, I also agree that Robert doesnt have much of an appeal!
I loved the bit in the tent to!

I have read the books and one scene got me sooo mad and they had it in the movie as well...It was that totally annoyed was where he took the part of her car so she couldnt see Jacob...To me that is so disrespectful and completely controlling! God I am getting angry just thinking about it! :)

I am blog stalker, rare commentor - but you got me on this one, I love these books & movies LOL!
A lot of the things that seemed weird (ie their "compromise") were much better explained in the books where the author had more liberty to explain the thoughts in each character's head - my 1 big complaint with all these movies is that they were made almost with an assumption that every person read the books so some things are just not clear.
I really liked this movie - I actually think they made it a little better than the book. They took out a lot of parts in the book that had just made me MAD at Bella and actually made her seem less wishy washy about her decisions! Haha I'm super excited for the next 2 movies too!

Ok, I read the books first and now am seeing the movies - was at the midnight showing for both the 2nd and 3rd movies. I have always been frustrated by Bella's hemming/hawing and general miserablesness - in the books and the movies. It's not the actress, it's the character.

I really liked this movie. I think the attraction is to Edward and the protectiveness/cool confidence that he relays more than it is Rob. Even though I don't mind Rob, AT ALL! mum

ParisPersuasion- No, I completely agree about the car scene. I was like.. HEY, NOW! If she wants to go see Jacob, then let her!

I also loved the first kiss where Bella broke her hand and Jacob had to explain to her dad what the problem was. Something like this: "I kiss her. Then she punch me. And she broke her hand." LOL.

msbuckeye02- Thanks for commenting! It's great to hear different voices. :)

I've noticed that too! There were a couple of parts in the movie where I was a little bit confused and felt that it was really choppy because I haven't read the books. I honestly had no idea who was creating the Newborns and I thought it was the Volturi, but I guess it was Victoria who made them?

I would imagine that the book had a lot of parts explaining why Bella made the decisions that she made. LOL. Were there any parts in the books in particular that stood out for you to make her less wishy washy?

Mum- I agree. I know a lot of people say that it's because of the actors/actresses that they don't like that particular character. But, they're supposed to be portraying a certain character when they're acting. I don't know.

I really don't think that Robert and Kristen are a couple in real life or Kristen and Taylor are a couple in real life as all the media/tabloids are trying to make it out to be. There's a separation between the people and the characters they play.

Wow, I just really went on a tangent. :)

But, I really do like Edward's character, even though I'm a Jacob/Taylor fan. :)

I really want to comment (so i'm going to) even though I have yet to see the movie (which i secretely really want to see).

I've heard that this movie was way better than the other two, and I really hope it is. The movies have always been a disappointment compared to the books for me, and I really want this one to not suck.

I don't know why I don't like the movies as much, I think it is largely because I think the books are an amazing piece of work, and they leave the reader to really imagine in being in Forks. The movies are mediocore in comparison, and only make me want to be with Jacob (which isn't a bad thing at all...;)). And I think that Bella irritates me more in the movies than in the books. At least in the books you can feel her desperation and understand why she does the things she does (ie kiss Jacob even though she's madly inlove with Edward).

As for the characters v. the actors, I think that the actors do a good job in portraying what they are given in their scripts, but I imagined all of the vampires (not just Edward) being...better looking (?) than what they actually are. I'm not saying that any of the vampires are hideous, but in the books they're made to be like gods. As far as Kristen goes, her acting in all of the movies I've seen her in (Adventureland anyone) leaves much to be desired. And Robert P. wasn't hot in Harry Potter, he wasn't hot in Remember Me (not that great of a movie either, except the ending, that was really sad and heart breaking) and he isn't hot in twilight.

p.s. sorry about the book i just wrote, didn't mean for my comment/rant to go on for that long...lol

I loved the movie. It was just as great as the fist one (wasn't so big a fan of New Moon).

And well part of the reason I could never really get on the whole Jacob bandwagon is BECAUSE he is cocky and arrogant. I HATE that but I still like Jacob and well, without a rival for Bella's affections it would be kinda boring.

And well I like Edward's confidence. And well I can see why Edward "let" Bella kiss Jacob. Above everything else he really doesn't want Bella to loose her soul. If she loved Jacob as much as Edward he would let her go so that she wouldn't have to give up everything to be with him.

And well Bella has always annoyed me. She is just too wishy-washy for me to "root" for her. And the way she loves Edward but yet keeps stringing Jacob along just pisses me off (even though Jacob knows Bella isn't his mate since he didn't imprint on her).

My favorite (after Edward) would have to be Alice and I am glad we got to know Jasper more in this movie. Him training everyone how to fight the newbies was great and he and Alice are too cute for words.

I have to say, the 1st movie was very disappointing. The acting felt forced and Bella (Kristen) well.. she always had this 'i'm constipated' look about her. In all the movies I've seen her in, she just seems to lack something and I don't really care for her acting. I am glad they got a new director since the 1st movie, the 2nd and 3rd were so much better.

Now, about the whole wedding vs sex thing.. they didn't really get into it in the movie, but the book explains it more. (Actually, the book explains a lot of things the movies don't.) Bella's really against marriage b/c of what happened to her parents. In the books she states she NEVER wants to get married. Also in the books, it explains why Edwards won't have sex with her while she's human. He's afraid he'll kill her b/c of his strength and with all the emotions during sex he can't promise he WON'T hurt her. So, he wants to get married, she doesn't.. she wants to have sex.. he's afriad. It was a compromise.

Edward never wants to push her into his lifestyle, he actually doesn't even want her to turn. (both book and movie show that obviously) He knows that Jacob would be better for her and that she could stay human and live a 'normal' life. He wants HER to choose who she ends up with and what lifestyle she'll be in. He also knew that she had to kiss Jacob on her own terms (not Jacob just planting 1 on her) for her to make her final decision. She was torn, he knew that, she knew that and Jacob knew that. But that kiss was more to show Jacob that SHE herself was choosing, not being pursuaded by Edward.

Edward would never fight Jacob b/c he knows how much it would hurt Bella if either of them died or were severely wounded b/c of it. For her, he just gets his jabs in when he can and that's it.

If you have the time, I really would recommend reading the books. They explain SOOOO much that the movie doesn't. And honestly, even though they are thick books, you get so enthralled you don't realize that you've read almost the whole thing in 1 day!

Another looonnngg comment from me, sorry! :)

Alicia- I personally LOVED New Moon the best. So, I wouldn't say that this movie was the BEST out of the three.

No, I agree. I mean.. I don't think that on a scale of 1 to 10 that the actors and actresses are THAT gorgeous. I hear so many arguments about how Kristen Stewart is NOT anything like Bella.

I really think that Robert looked SO much better in Harry Potter than in Twilight (I haven't watched Remember me). Am I alone in this?

But, I'm not really a hardcore fan, I just watch the movies for Taylor. :)

I love long comments. Don't worry about it. :)

Stephanie- I really loved how the movie showed Jasper and Alice's relationship. The training part was one of my favorite scenes. They're SO cute together. Forget Bella/Jacob/Edward. Go Jasper and Alice. :)

I kind of feel like Jacob brought this onto himself (remember, I'm going by the movies) because Bella has always been with Edward and didn't show anything other than friendship to Jacob (even in New Moon). I mean, she didn't kiss him (almost in New Moon, but didn't!) or like.. anything. Maybe I'm mistaken.. Jacob kept saying that Bella was in love with him.. Bella won't admit it. Bella this, Bella that. I don't know. This is just how I see it.

~J- I haven't seen the first movie. I was going to watch it, but never got around to it. But I've had people tell me that I should just skip it. I agree that Kristen always has that serious look going on.

Now, I understand that whole marriage vs. sex thing. You make it so simple. I was just REALLY confused by the movie. I just thought that since Bella was so young that she didn't want to get married.

As for the whole kiss thing. I don't know.. I'm still on the fence about that. But, after you explained it, I have a new understanding. I'm loving Edward more a little bit. Still, it's interesting how it took her that long to admit her feelings.

I love the whole Edward/Jacob interaction. I love how civil they were in their tent conversation. It's really sweet that both of them have that understanding and both have THAT strong feelings for Bella.

I actually might check out the books. I have a lighter semester in the fall so I'll be able to have the time to read those, like you said, thick books. :)

I really don't mind the long comments. LOL. I think it's really interesting to get everyone's POV on everything.

I thought the movie was pretty good, but had expected more. All of your questions and what bothered you would totally be answered by the book. There are some things that just can't translate to film. I am a total Jacob fan over Edward, but totally agree with you about Jacob being a tool in this movie. Edward was my favorite in this movie so far.

This is my first time here, just ran across your blog...love it...will be back to read more soon!

Jayjay0jt said...

Thanks for stopping by and for reading, Kate! :)

I agree that I should really check out the books. They look to be about 800 pages (maybe?) and I agree that not everything translates into film. I think it's like the whole Harry Potter thing (not that I'm comparing Twilight to Harry Potter). I wish that they made the movie longer.

Again, I'm glad you enjoy the blog and thanks for stopping by. :)

The books are long, but I promise you that once you start reading them, they don't seem long enough. And I do think Rob was cuter in HP, because I almost had a crush on him in that movie, and then I remembered that I was inlove with Daniel Radcliffe and the Twins :)

Jayjay0jt said...

OMG. The twins. <3

I don't think I've ever had a crush on Daniel. I think I crushed more on Rupert Grint for some reason. Probably because everyone had a crush on Daniel. LOL.

But one of the reasons why I'm prolonging reading the book is because my boyfriend is SO against the crazy Twilight fans (he works in a movie theater). He will give me no mercy if he SEES me reading a Twilight book. So, I'll have to do it secretly. :) haha.

I've reluctantly seen the first and second movies and I've read the books but I've seen the movies for free because I can't in good faith pay my own personal money for them. I think they do a good job sticking as close to the books as they can but they still leave much to be desired. The first movie was just super drawn out and awkward. The second movie was much better and I think it had to do with a bigger budget and a new director (i think). I hate the casting (except for Jacob and Angela) Personally, I see Alexis Bliedel from Gilmore Girls as Bella, The actor who plays Stephan on the Vampire Diaries as Edward, and at least a different hair style for Alice.
